Evergreens 04:19
Its 9:00 am, it sure don’t feel like August, a cold wind blowing from the east. I miss my friends. It’s been forever since I left my home in the evergreens The day I left, my path so sure it set itself but now I’m not sure what it means. Still each day I rise, hope to start another day one step closer to my dreams Should the road I ride lead me to the promised land or should I end up far from where I want to be I only hope that when my time comes on judgment day that judge goes easy on me Ain’t it nice, another day in paradise? But is it where I want to be? I take a good look around, notice that my guard is down the price of happiness ain’t free And should the road I ride lead me to the promised land or should I end up far from where I want to be I only hope that when my time comes on judgment day that judge goes easy on me Now it’s nearly midnight, early mid September the red wine has got the best of me Here I sit again, and I still miss my friends up there in the evergreens

The sun goes down, the stars come up Another night alone My memory reminds me Of a place where I used to go Those days are gone and tough to see Through a rear view mirror haze But things are looking up now At least I think they are today In a born again sinner I’ve been waiting in line I was once a beginner Yeah, but then I did some time I’ve got some scores to settle Before the deal is done I’m a born again sinner But not the only one I dug down deep to make a stand But it didn’t turn out my way Scratched my head looking back Wondering what I did wrong that day The wind blew strong but I blew it off And walked out in the street tipped my hat and kicked my heels Never knowing who I might meet In a born again sinner I’ve been waiting in line I was once a beginner Yeah, but then I did some time I’ve got some scores to settle Before the deal is done I’m a born again sinner But not the only one Now the suns come up, the night runs off To rendezvous with the past I’ve had a hard time wondering If anything I do is going to last The years have gone and nothing’s changed but to me I’m still the same I never realized I’d lose when I jumped into this game I’m a born again sinner I’ve been waiting in line I was once a beginner Yeah, but then I did some time I’ve got some scores to settle With people that I’ve known Yeah I’m a born again sinner Somebody take me home

Come gather round you people And bear witness with me now For the promises we’ve all been made only to be let down Dividing all the people You spread like a disease And it’s all brought on by liars, criminals, beggars and thieves Some may find it strange That the winds of change blow division through our streets And the rise and fall of those we choose Makes our dissidence complete They draw their lines and make demands “give us information Please” But they’re all brought down by Liars, criminals, beggars and thieves (Bridge) And the howling news, in their own view Gives us the sense that things are sweet Some will say it’s bad, others that it’s good It Just depends on who you meet I’ve been up on high, and down below And everywhere in between And it’s all controlled by Liars, criminals, beggars and thieves Solo And when the fight is done, a new one on You’ve barely got time to breathe They’ll build you up then rip you down Unless your roots run deep They’ll take out your legs, arms behind your back And when you’re down on your knees That’s how you know you’ve found the Liars, Criminals, beggars and thieves

Hallelujah 03:38
Hallelujah the sun is coming To brighten up my day Hallelujah the sun is coming Chase the night away And Hallelujah the sun brings us closer together When we might go astray Hallelujah the sun is coming out today Hallelujah the rain comes And washes my pain away Hallelujah the rain is coming What more do I have to say And Hallelujah for sons and daughters and parents (lovers) Some are gone but some remain Hallelujah the sun is going to rise again (BR) As the sun comes up The shadows get chased away We get on with our lives Busy living another day And when the sun goes down Bring on those dreams And I don’t really care what anyone says Say Hallelujah today Hallelujah the wind blows All my troubles away But that wind aint here forever So that troubles going to come again And Hallelujah for getting older And learning things that keep us sane And Hallelujah the sun is going to rise again (BR) Hallelujah the night is coming To put an end to the day Lay my head down, close my eyes And fumble to pray Give thanks for the good things I have And things I let slip away And I don’t care what anyone says Say Hallelujah today

I remember how it all began Late nights in a far away land I remember the night we met Where we were when you first held my hand The sweet smell of a warm summer night I pulled you close and you held me tight Yes I remember how it all began On our way to the promised land I remember all the places we’ve lived All the way back from when we were kids The country house down that long dirt road To city living when we thought we were old The beach town where we started the band Then heading home to where it all began Yeah, I remember all the places we’ve been On our way to the promised land On our way to the promised land Time changes like we both have The road’s long but it always feels right Like it does when you’re holding me tight I don’t remember eve r having a guide We never failed once as long as we tried So come with me girl and take my hand And I’ll take you to the promised land I remember those late, late nights Full moons and when the stars were bright I remember the fog rolling in Epic lefts when the wind would shift I remember being flat broke And how we’d laugh like it was just a joke I remember the good times we had On our way to the promised land

Last call 02:32
It’s getting late, and I’ve got to go But I’ll be coming back this way before you know Before the night is gone And the sun comes up Thanks for taking me in, and making me grin But I’ve got to move on Tines slipping away and the night has passed And I knew just what you were thinking before you asked But that time has gone I’ve got miles to go Thanks for taking me in, the roads calling again So, I’ve got to move on I’ve got one more hour to kill Before I make this bus my home And I’ve never been a fan Of spending one more night alone But it’s getting late, tonight’s been great Thanks for taking me in, I’d love to do it again But I’ve got to move on (Break) The suns coming up and I’m laying you down It’s just one more thing that I’ll remember about this town But I’m out of time, and we’ve had our fun Thanks for taking me in, I want to do it again But I’ve got to move on I’ve got one more hour to kill Before I hit that road again You know the Devils got time And if you don’t mind For one more round of sin But it’s getting late, tonight’s been great Thanks for taking me in, I’d love to do it again But I’ve got to move on
